William Humphrys Mervyn Archdale was born on 6 June 1813. He was the son of Edward Archdall and Matilda Humphrys. He married, firstly,Emily Mary Rebecca Maude, daughter of Rev. Hon. John Charles Maude, on 15 April 1845, they had no children. He mar ried, secondly, Matilda Mary Alley <http://www.thepeerage.com/p26368.htm>, daughter of William Alley, on 28 February 1894, they had no children, they were cousins. He died on 23 June 1899 at age 86. William Humphrys Mervyn Archdale was ba ptised with the name of William Humphrys Archdall. He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1835 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1835. He held the office of High Sheri ff of County Fermanagh in 1845. He held the office of Foreman, County Fermanagh Grand Jury. He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tyrone in 1861. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) of County Tyrone. He held the office of Membe r of Parliament (M.P.) for County Fermanagh between 1874 and 1885. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) and Justice of the Peace (J.P.) of County Fermanagh. As of 22 December 1895, William Humphrys Mervyn Archdale was considered the hea d of the Archdale family, succeeding his brother. On 1896 his name was legally changed to William Humphrys Mervyn Archdale when he assumed the additional name of Mervyn, in accordance with the will of his uncle General Mervyn Archdall, by Royal Lic ence. He lived at Riversdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland. He lived at Trillick, County Tyrone, Ireland. He lived at Castle Archdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland.
