Colonel Nicholas Archdall was baptised with the name of Nicholas Montgomery. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.). On 1728 his name was legally changed to Colonel Nicholas Archdall (?) as he assumed the surname and arms of Archdall i n lieu of his patronymic. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
