Richard Montgomery Archdale was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. He fought in the First World War, with the 19th Hussars. He was decorated with the awar d of Military Cross (M.C.). He fought in the Second World War, Gloucestershire Hussars. He was decorated with the award of Military Medal of Merit (Greek). He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1946.
