Helen (Downey) Griffin, 90, of 25 Saab Court, Springfield,
widow of Lawrence B. Griffin, died Wednesday in Mercy
Hospital, Springfield. Born in County Kerry, Ireland, she
lived here 60 years. She was a communicant of Sacred
Heart Church and a charter member of the Woman's
Auxilary of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club. The funeral will
be Saturday morning at Edward F. O'Donnell Funeral
Home and in the church with burial in St. Michael's
Cemetery. Donations may be made to the renovation
fund of the church or the John Boyle O'Reilly scholarship
fund.

I was at the CVHM library today and looked up Lawrence GRIFFIN.
1946 Springfield City Directory: 2 Listed
GRIFFIN, Lawrence B. (Helen D) [not Ellen] bartender 851 Dwight h 15 Ringgold St.
GRIFFIN, Lawrence J. Student r 58 Governor St.
I went through the years and found that Lawrence B. GRIFFIN died 2 June 1966, Age 59
1967 Springfield City Directory:
Helen D. wid Lawrence B. h (9) 11 Sherrington Court
I again went through the years. Helen stays at the same residence until 1977 when her name and address disappears from the Springfield Directory. She may have moved to another residence. There are a few Helen Griffins of this particualr year and th ey seem to have done away with putting "widow" status.

I don't know when Ellen (Helen) married Lawrence must have been after the 1930 Census.
Lawrence is single in Springfield in 1930.
I did not find a Voter Card for Helen or Ellen Doona nor Downey.
