He married, firstly, Francis Caldwell, daughter of Sir John Caldwell, 1st Bt.. He married, secondly, Elizabeth Cole in 1728. He died on 8 October 1728, without issue. Captain Edward Archdale graduated from Trinity Church, Dublin, County Dublin , Ireland, in 1716 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Sir Gustavus Hume's Regiment of Dragoons. He held the office of High Sheriff in 1722. As of 27 December 1726, Captain Edward Archdale was conside red the head of the Archdale family, succeeding his brother Mervyn Archdale. He lived at Castle Archdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland.
